On "EWTN News Nightly" tonight: 'Doctor Joseph Capizzi Dean of the School of Theology and Religious Studies at the Catholic University of America joins EWTN News Nightly to give a brief overview of the Catholic teaching on War, specifically the basic elements of the "Just War" theory. Dr. Capizzi discusses if this teaching supports Israel's decision to "eradicate" Hamas in the wake of the brutal October 7 attacks. He also responds to the upsurge in anti-semitism and anti-semeitc attacks on college campuses across the nation. President Joe Biden signs a new executive order targeting Russia. He wants to block Russian defense contractors from building more weapons to use against Ukraine. The president is also sending his secretary of state and homeland security secretary to Mexico to coordinate a response to the surge of migrants at the U.S. border. Tonata Lolesio, Principal of Sacred Hearts Catholic School in Lahaina, joins News Nightly to give an update on the community of Lahaina. Lolesio discusses the church and school community there and how everyone is rallying around one another through the ups and downs. Later she shares how they have still been able to teach and educate students despite all the challenges they have been facing. Lastly, all is set at the Vatican for the traditional Christmas celebrations. A busy two weeks for Pope Francis will begin Sunday with Christmas Eve mass in St. Peter's Basilica.
